Item Description
1930s. 8" tall control tower is litho tin with 6" round base. Also included is folded arm assembly which opens to 25" and contains two 7.5" long tin litho planes with 8" wingspans. By winding aluminum winged plane tightly and releasing, it travels along the ground at first and then actually takes off and flies in a circle parallel to the other plane. Works well. Tower has great lithography featuring passengers lined up outside including a black porter. Top litho shows air-traffic controllers on radios and microphones. Base has graphics of a plane and dirigible, however toy features two planes. Base has a few light scratches plus a few .25" nicks on "Skybird Flyer" logo. VF. Celluloid propeller on dummy plane has .25" crack otherwise planes are VF/Exc. Nice example of this scarcer wind-up.
