Item Description
2-3/8x4". Hayes had a distinguished career during the Civil War, during which he was wounded four times. He was inaugurated in 1877 as our nineteenth president. This is his Grand Army of the Republic business card with printed text on the front "Rutherford B. Hayes,/Aide-De-Camp On Staff Of Commander In Chief./Fremont, O./Eugene Rawson Post. No 32." This high quality card has embossed GAR image in color on left. Gold luster edges. On reverse (signed upside down compared to card front) he wrote "Rutherford B. Hayes/Spiegal Grove/7 Aug. 1888." An excellent example as he most frequently signed RB Hayes, whereas here he signed his full name along with date and name of his home (Spiegal Grove). NM. Comes with Hake's COA.
