Four items from Salt Lake City, Utah dairy. Business envelope with Cloverleaf Dairy imprint return address has typewritten address to recipient in city. Contains two separate full page 8.5x11" typewritten letters on Cloverleaf Dairy letterhead signed in ink by manager Ariel C. Merrille. One is addressed to recipient and includes text "Dear Friend, Welcome To The Cloverleaf Dairy Chapter Of The Supermen Club Of America! We Are Happy To Give You Your Membership Certificate Which Is Personally Autographed By Superman Himself. You Will Want To Take Good Care Of This Certificate, Because It Entitles You To All Of The Privileges And Activities That Are Being Planned For Club Members. For Example, There Will Be Superman Badges, And The Official Superman Secret Code, And A Secret Ring, And A Lot Of Other Things. Be Sure To Listen To The Superman Program Every Monday, Wednesday And Friday At 5:45pm Over Station KUTA." Second letter is written to mother of member and includes text "Before We Decided To Sponsor The Supermen Club And Superman Program On The Radio, We Made Very Careful Investigations. We Wanted To Be Sure That Superman Was A Wholesome, Upright Character Who Would Do Nothing Or Say Nothing That Any Mother Wouldn't Want Her Children To Hear. And We Found That Superman Was Just That Kind Of Character. His Adventures Are Intensely Interesting To Youngsters, But Throughout All His Actions His Purposes Are To See That Right Triumphs Over Wrong. We Think It Is Good For Growing Boys And Girls To Listen To A Program Of That Character". Both letters also promote Saturday morning movies at local show and drinking of Cloverleaf milk. Comes with 8.5x11" certificate #S2923 copyright 1939 by Detective Comics Inc. and filled out in ink with name, age and address of recipient envelope was mailed to. Both letters and certificate have pair of horizontal folds as mailed but o/w group is Exc./NM. Very rare. First we've offered of this dairy sponsored issue.
