34x41.5" corrugated cardboard shipping box addressed to Lesley Sales Co. in Newton Corner, Mass. has text at bottom “Howdy Doody Promotion October 1 To November 27, 1954 Santa Claus Promotion November 28 To December 25, 1954 Collation 98/74143 Floor Stand And Riser Display”. Shipping box is heavily worn around edges with some moisture marks and tanning. Good. Contains separate die-cut cardboard folded pieces. First large piece unfolds to 31x54" and forms display bin designed like chimney with cardboard inserts stapled inside to hold Colgate products including dental cream, Halo shampoo, Vaseline petroleum jelly, and Rapid-Shave. Comes with second large piece which is 29.75" wide and is actually two pieces held together with cardboard strips on reverse side. One side of display is 31" tall with illustration of Howdy Doody saying “Hey Kids!! Get These 2 Big Offers By The Makers Of Colgate Dental Cream”. Lower left has art image of “Howdy Doody Photo Printer” with image of camera with Princess Summerfall Winterspring in frame, and second offer is for “6 Piece Disguise Kit” with art of six kids wearing disguises. Both offers include text “Yours For Only 25¢ And A Colgate Dental Cream Carton”. Lower right has arrows pointing to unused and complete 3x5.5" coupon pad which repeats offer with space on reverse for recipient to fill out and mail in.Other side is 28 3/4" tall with superb image of Santa holding sack which has four promoted products along with wrapped gifts. Chimney display bin has color rubs along fold lines at bottom with tiny bit of wear around edges. Top of Howdy’s’s hair and word balloon have a few lt. hairline surface paper ripples as made and left side margin edge has 5.5" vertical split in yellow background area at upper left repaired w/ clear tape on reverse. White areas on Howdy’s side have a few dust streaks.Despite problems on Howdy image area display retains bright and Near Exc. Appearance. An incredible unused vintage display combining two iconic characters. First we've seen in our 45 years.
