Item Description
c.late 1960s for a premium that was never produced. 9.75x12.5" mat has 6 5/8 x9.5" opening revealing sheet of vellum art paper with image area in colored pencil and ink. Cap’n Crunch is shown at the lower left saying “Watch Me Battle Otis For The Treasure” pointing to toy in center which shows both fighting with swords on ship deck with treasure chest in center. Text at upper left reads “Free Plastic Action Toy Inside This Package” and text at lower right reads “Molded In Colored Plastic-Easy To Assemble And Operate-Just Move The Deck Bar And Ocean Bar Back And Forth To Make The Little Pirates Duel.”. Vellum sheet is lightly rippled and blank margin edges have clear cellophane tape to keep sheet in place. Image area itself is bright and Exc. Comes with additional 5 1/8x6 1/8" sheet which has printed image of art of parts of premium on sprues as would be bagged unassembled for insertion in cereal boxes. Both pieces would frame nicely together for a great display. From the archives of premium creators Sam & Gordon Gold, accompanied by a letter to that effect from Gordon Gold.
