Item Description
Both are c. early 1930s. Unused postcard is 3-3/8x5.5" with image of Schmeling in boxing attire with printed caption "Max Schmeling World's Heavyweight Champion At Greenkill Lodge Kingston, N.Y." Glossy photo is 7x9.5" showing Schmeling sitting in corner of outdoor boxing ring with trainer and handler nearby. Reverse side has pencil date of 1934. Emulsion on postcard has yellowed with age and upper right has 2" diagonal crease with some dust soil on reverse side. Fine. Photo has trace of lt. surface wear, just visible in reflected light. VF appearance. Schmeling (1905-2005) was a German boxer who was Heavyweight Champion of the World between 1930 and 1932. Great images. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
