Item Description
Six items. All c. 1930s. Postcards are each approx. 3-3/8x5-3/8". Two are real photos showing him on ship "Rex Genova". One shows him waving from in front of mast and other shows him in boxing trunks with two men. Both have imprint at bottom from ship photographer. Next postcard is postally used and shows Carnera in street clothes with image of his town nearby. Card is addressed to recipient in Chicago. Next two cards are French and have same image of Carnera punching bag in gym. Photo is 8x9-5/8" showing Carnera wearing suit with little girl at his left and his right hand on shoulder of little person with another little person nearby. Likely a publicity photo. Trace of lt. dust soil here and there but overall group is VF+. Carnera became World Heavyweight Champion when he knocked out Jack Sharkey June 29, 1933. He lost the title to Max Baer in 1934 and was knocked out in six rounds by Joe Louis in 1935. His boxing record was 89 wins and 14 losses with 72 wins by knockout. Interesting images. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
