Item Description
6.75x10.25" sepiatone glossy showing bare fisted and bare chested Johnson in fighting pose c. 1910 has 2.75x4" steel tip fountain pen autograph at the lower left in black ink. See biography on Nat Fleischer in previous item #1211. In 1955 Nat Fleischer said that Jack Johnson was the greatest heavyweight fighter of all time. Right side of photo has light emulsion wear with trace of some lt. aging and yellowing in this area. Ink is a bit thin on a few letters of signature but whole inscription and autograph is clearly legible. Overall Fine+ with near Exc. autograph. Taking into account the photo size, image, bold signature and who the photo is signed to, it is safe to say this is the finest Jack Johnson signed photo you will ever come across. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
