Item Description
Like the previous item lead proof, this was designed by Orin Armstrong for Robbins Co. and potential use by General Mills as a Wheaties premium but never produced. This is the item used for the photo in the Hake Pop Culture guide listed as JAC-34. The lead sheet is 1-5/8x1-15/16" and 1/16" thick. The front has a raised image of what would have been a gorgeous decoder, likely to be executed in brass if produced. All the details are crisp and show a top loop like that on a watch fob. Below are wings flanking a shield design and below this is the name "Jack Armstrong" on a scrolling ribbon. Below this is a circle with segments holding the initials of eight different compass points at their proper locations around the circumference. At the circle's center are horizontal lines listing the alphabet letters A through Z and numerals 1 through 0 each with dot and dash symbols below designating their Morse Code equivalent and finally the words "Morse Code" appear at the bottom of the design all of which is contained in a rope-like border. Underside has lightly and neatly scratched company identification number of "M5973." Mint as made. Unique.
