Vol. 1, #3 edited by Jackie Robinson. 8.75x11”. July 1953  issue has cover photo of White Sox player Minnie Minoso catching a ball. Contains 72 pages of photos and articles with some red accent color. Inside front cover has premium offer of “Jackie Robinson Sports Scroll” and “Sports Authority Card” available free with subscription. Articles include “Will The Yankees Hire A Negro Player? George Weiss Of The Yanks Says Yes!, Highlights In The Life Of Jack Johnson, Minnie Minoso, Boxer Jimmy Carter, Branch Rickey, What Happened To The Negro Jockey? Negro Athlete Hall of Fame.” Covers have lt. handling creases and dust soil, left side of cover has wear along edge and spine with a few bits of missing surface paper. Inside magazine has pulled loose from inside cover. Pages lightly but evenly tanned. Good. Scarce publication that lasted only 5 issues. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
