Item Description
3” with cartoon of them and a magic carpet surrounded by text “Flying High With Abbott & Costello.” Pinpoint speck trapped under cello at upper left and right side has very slightly pressed in area about 1” in dia. but not interfering at all visually. Metal back with bar pin. Metal back has about 15% of surface with some tan oxidation plus missing silver luster but all is structurally sound. Text on curl reads “©1967 RKO General, Inc. Jomar Productions, Inc. Hanna-Barbera Productions, Inc.” This rare button promoted the half-hour animated series which aired in syndication Sep. 9, 1967 to June 1, 1968. The cartoons were produced jointly by the 3 groups named on the curl. The series was syndicated by Gold Key Entertainment and King World Productions. Bud Abbott supplied the voice to his own character but Costello died in 1959 so his voice was performed by Stan Irwin. A comic book series based on the TV show was published by Charlton Comics running 22 issues from Feb., 1968 through Aug., 1971. Overall Fine but displays clean and Exc. Only example we’ve seen.
