Item Description
Complete premium includes folder which opens to 4x4-3/8”. Front shows “How To Have More Fun With Your Viking Rockets” while inside has photos and text about the actual “Martin Viking Rocket” which set altitude records at White Sands Proving Ground, New Mexico. Back of the folder promotes Post’s Krinkles cereal and provides order form for additional rockets with expiration date of June 30, 1952. Folder has two folds as originally packaged and front upper half is rather tan plus minimal tiny edge wear. The premium itself consists of a 1-1/8” dia. base inscribed “Rocket Launcher.” This has a raised pin at center surrounded by a spring and plastic piece which serves to depress the spring and lock it into position. The set comes with all 3 miniature rockets each inscribed “Viking.” One of these was originally gray but due to the nature of the plastic material, most of this has turned a rather khaki brown. The red and white rockets remain Mint and the white rocket glows in the dark. Each has a small hole in the base so it can be fitted on the launching pin and then shot into the air. A historic premium related to America’s effort to explore space. Rare.
