Item Description
This ring is accepted in the premium hobby as a Buck Rogers item c. 1953 as it was issued at the time Sylvania television was a Buck Rogers licensee and they used Buck in extensive print campaigns to promote their Sylvania Halo Light televisions. Ring has a large brass base with adjustable bands and the company “S” logo on each side. Ring top has pair of lightning bolt designs flanking a high relief white plastic light bulb replica which glows brightly in the dark. Surface of the bulb is marked with their “S” logo and the word “Sylvania.” Curiously, we’ve seen examples with N. Mint luster but which were missing much of the black detailing on these inscriptions. Here, the vast majority of luster is off the brass ring base, although nice highlights remain on the flat top surface flanking the light bulb. The black text and symbol on the bulb remains distinct and Exc. Current Hake Pop Culture guide values are Good-$265; Fine-$525; N. Mint-$1,100. While the majority of the ring base grades VG to Fine, the most important visual area, the top, is more like VF.
