Item Description
First is 1.25” brass token known as the “Medal Of Membership.” This is from his first radio program sponsor “Skelly” gasoline and includes text “Captain Midnight 1940 Flight Patrol.” One side pictures the stars of the show “Captain Midnight/Patsy Donovan/Chuck Ramsey.” There is also a special password and center of the token has a small raised bump so it can serve as a spinner coin. Small touches of luster off the underside but as these come still extremely Fine. Second is from 1942 titled “Capt. Midnight/Flight Commander.” This has tiny tarnish dot on lower right corner but other luster remains Exc. Reads on the reverse “Awarded For Distinguished Service/Capt. Midnight.” Next is Captain Midnight’s very first decoder from 1941. Center dial with the alphabet numbers has lost some luster but rest of the piece has Exc. luster remaining. This has a bar pin on the reverse. Last is his photo decoder from 1942. Includes quite scarce original photo of him and these are usually gone because code manual instructions told owner to remove the Captain and to replace him with a photo of themselves. Exceedingly faint hairline in the emulsion on the left and right sides of the photo but super clean. Exc. luster. A quality group of 4 early premiums.
