Item Description
This rare 1942 ring was offered by Kix Cereal as a bounce-back offer with Lone Ranger military rings in April, 1942. General Mills recorded only 85 requests. Following the General Mills offer, the ring was also offered very briefly by Kellogg’s, this time named as a ‘gold ore’ ring. The brass ring has adjustable bands. The ring sides have an area with small irregular marks, representing the surface of a meteor. The ring top has a metal rim with a clear slightly domed celluloid cover over small rock pebbles. This example has only the tiniest traces of luster loss from the brass compartment edge and from around the thin narrow edge openings for a finger. Vast majority of the luster loss is detectable only under magnification. The piece has high luster and displays at least N. Mint. We’ve had only 4 examples in 4 decades. A beautiful example of a rare ring. Currently in the Hake Pop Culture Guide at $600-Good; $1,450-Fine; $3,350-N. Mint. Ring opens at exceedingly conservative bid.
