1.25” apparently produced for the Christmas season reads “Joyeux Noel/The Blues Project/Café Au Go Go.” The Café was a famous Greenwich Village night club which served as a jazz oasis before rock groups began performing there in the 60s. It was also noted as the site where comedian Lenny Bruce and the club’s owner Howard Solomon were arrested on obscenity charges in 1964. The group, with organist Al Kooper, performed at the club beginning in 1965 and in fact their first recording contract for Verve Records saw them recording their first live album at the Café Au Go Go during November 1965. This button dates to 1965 or 1966 as by 1967 the band’s original members were departing. Button is essentially Mint. Rare.
