Item Description
1.5” with near exact likeness of Alfred E. Neuman as depicted for MAD Magazine. Additional button text is “Superior-1941,” the meaning of which is unknown to us. Button has no backpaper as issued and no maker’s name. One of 3 examples we’ve seen in 4 decades. This example came from the Hake/Potter Collection. Tiniest lt. wear under magnification including microscopic pinpoint pair of white dots on his nose mentioned only for total accuracy as without magnification they are for practical purposes invisible. Centering of the design is close to perfect and the piece displays Mint with high gloss. Comes with Hake’s COA.
