Item Description
First is 1.5” reading “Ding Dong School Official Member.” This is for famous young children’s TV program hosted by Miss Frances which began on NBC in Chicago and went national on NBC in 1952. This button likely dates from 1954-1956 when the show originated in New York City. It is the only example we’ve seen and is essentially Mint. Second is 1-5/8” reading “I Am A Captain Kangaroo Kid.” This button came off a large doll depicting the character and the reverse reads “American Character Doll Corp. Brooklyn, New York.” The curl has both the copyrights of CBS-TV and “Keeshan Miller Entrp’s.” The Captain was played by Bob Keeshan, the creator and star of the show from 1955-1984. He also, more anonymously, portrayed Clarabell on the Howdy Doody Show 1947-1952. A very scarce doll button with just tiniest touches of paint wear. Exc. Both of these are uncirculated samples from the Green Duck Button Co. archive and come with Hake’s COA.
