Item Description
6x10.5”. c. 1930s. 32 stiff paper pages containing complete set of 96 cards, each 2-3/8x3”. All neatly mounted at appropriate spots. Album title translates as “Buffalo Bill’s Adventures On The Island Of Mysteries.” Cards feature full color art and as mounted pages have story text to go along with each. Story involves the finding of a gold nugget at the beginning, he goes on to encounter a young girl, Indians, befriends the Keyon family, is captured and bound and eventually parts the island with a found treasure. Heavy cover wear and aging including 1x1” piece missing from top left edge of front cover, spine has some tape repairs. Pages and cards also have moderate wear and aging, slight overall warp. As mounted, about 8 cards along spine edge have margin bend. Overall cards range from about VG to as high as Exc./Mint. These higher grade cards show some lt. aging but remain clean and with fairly sharp corners as mounted. We have never seen any of these cards before, let alone as a complete set with album. Great set and a gum card rarity. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
