Item Description
1.25” button with union bugs on curl and metal back reads “Stop War And Dictatorship/Defeat H.R. 1776.” Cello has some air under it which causes slight total variation in the blue bkg. By late 1940, Britain was having troubles paying for and transporting war materials it needed to fight Nazi Germany. Churchill appealed to FDR to find a solution and FDR proposed what became “H.R. 1776, A Bill Further To Promote The Defense Of The United States And For Other Purposes” which was proposed January 10, 1941. This became known as the Lend-Lease program. We’ve seen only 2 or 3 in four decades. Rare.
