Item Description
First is .75” showing single star on banner and reading “Service Star Legion, Inc.” Below this is the word “Starling,” apparently a ranking based on the number of sons in the service. Reverse has backpaper from Torsch, Franz of Baltimore. Mint. Second is Exc. design of soldier and sailor posed before large red flag which has symbolic blue star on white panel at its center. Rim text “One Of Mine Has Joined The Colors.” 7/8” button is without backpaper or maker’s name. Almost certainly one of the earliest depictions of this concept. Only example we’ve seen. N. Mint and displaying Mint. Hake book Collectible Pin-Back Buttons photo examples World War I Section #159 and #165. Rare. Comes with Hake’s COA.
