Item Description
First is 1.25” of Union veterans with sabers in a parade joined alongside by a pair of young girls in white outfits holding roses and the flag. Backpaper has W&H name below but name of jobber above “W.F. Miller & Co.” This button is c. 1898. Second shows soldier with wounded comrade while to the right is a broken cannon and with an exploding cannonball on the left while above is cemetery with statue and wreath. Tiny “In Memoriam” on the wreath. This has backpaper of New York company “Ann St. Badge & Novelty Co.” Third is of Union veteran in uniform. He has a huge white beard. Young girl in his lap peers into his armless coat sleeve. Lettering on ribbon is near invisible but does say “Memorial Day” with the date “1908” quite visible. Issued by “Chapin Post No. 2 G.A.R.” No backpaper as issued. Hake book Collectible Pin-Back Buttons photo example Civil War Section #23, 26, 29. All display Mint. Comes with Hake’s COA.
