Item Description
Each is 5/8” reading “Eat Mrs. Sherlock’s Bread” plus player name and a numeral between 1 and 21. The set begins with button #1 showing owner and former major leaguer Roger Bresnahan. The 2 missing buttons are #6 and #10. There are age marks, mostly just on the rim, on numbers 1, 3, 14, 17, 19, 20 and 21. There are cello crazing cracks of minor and moderate degree on numbers 4, 5, 8, 11 and 16. These may or may not have a touch of stain as well. The clean and Exc. to N. Mint buttons are 7, 9, 12, 13, 15 and 18. While overall the entire set would average about Fine, all retain glossy appearance without any color fade. The largest group we’ve seen in decades. See following complete set. From the Richard Merkin Collection. Comes with Hake’s COA.
