Item Description
1.5” celluloid shows uniformed baseball player with his name below. Coloration of the gold bkg. around the photo has lighter and darker areas but o/w condition is Exc. for the entire piece. Rear of the piece has cardboard and fiberboard with the back designed as a baseball and with dials on the side edge so that “Runs” and “Innings” can be counted for the “Visitors” and “Home Club.” Fob comes with its original strap which we did not picture. The Ft. Worth team was a founding member of the Texas League in 1888. J. Walter Morris was a player/manager and in 1911 became owner of the Ft. Worth “Panthers” or “Cats” building “Panther Park” north of downtown. He later became Texas League President. Earlier in his career he played 23 games as short stop for the 1908 St. Louis Cardinals. Overall size of the item is 1-7/8”. From the Richard Merkin Collection. Comes with Hake’s COA. Rare.
