Item Description
1.25” button from 1897 with W&H backpaper issued to those attending “Western Waterways Ass’n/Davenport/Iowa/1897.” Shows smoke billowing from stacks of a paddlewheel steamboat, although the wheel is on the side away from the boat which is docked in the Mississippi River. Button is essentially mint and pinned to its original 4.25” accent ribbon. The named organization sought improvements along the river to improve trade. Hake book Collectible Pin-Buck Buttons photo example Books Section #227. Comes with Hake’s COA. See 1898 “Iowa” ship button #631. Only example known to us.
