Item Description
In cataloging this item we have discovered that two similar but different (including slipcase artwork and rifle design) rifles were produced by Marx c. 1955. The other variety was offered by us in Auction #192, #1816. Rifle is hard plastic/metal and 34” long. The die-cut cardboard slipcase features same design on each side including image of Fess Parker as Davy Crockett, simulated leather stitching and fringe accents, etc. Additional image depicts Davy and bear whereas the other packaging includes image of him hiding behind a rock. Moderate scattered handling wear, creases to die-cut handle. One end also has some additional scattered creases and pair of 2” long tears. Fine. Rifle stock has text in red (other version is in blue) and reads “Official Walt Disney Davy Crockett.” The receiver of the rifle has nice detailing with 2 different images of cowboys on horseback along with buffalo (the other variety features horses and cactus plus bear and stag). This is a 50-shot repeating cap rifle. Few minor paint rubs to receiver but never fired and still remains N. Mint. Rare with slipcase.
