Item Description
Eight typically 3.5x5.5” real photo postcards and 1 photo card depicting 2 children dressed as Golliwogs. c. early 1900s-1920s. Themes feature children with dolls and people dressed as Golliwogs. Of note, 1 card shows “Mr. Teddy Miles – Miss Daisy May," Miles is dressed as Golliwog and the duo appears to be a vaudeville-type act. Another card shows child dressed as Golliwog with young woman dressed as Britannia. Another card shows a group of shop girls, one holding Golliwog doll, other holding Charlie Chaplin statue. Of particular note, one card shows young black girl with Golliwog doll in hand. Four have inked correspondence on reverse. Varying degrees of handling wear with some lt. corner tip wear. Fine/VF overall. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake’s COA.
