Item Description
Lot of 4, 3 being from same German maker, remaining piece being made by Gorona of England. All c. 1930s. English piece is 4.5” dia. glazed ceramic saucer with image of Golliwog and girl riding toy horses. Scattered traces of wear but VF/Exc. overall. German pieces( all glazed china) include 2-1/8" tall by 3" dia. mug with image of 3 girls reacting to large Goliwog with matching 5.5” plain green saucer. Exc. Last piece is 2-5/8” tall by 2-5/8” dia. mug with winter scene showing Golliwog in fur suit with children on sled. Bottom interior of mug has embossed lithopane (hold to light) image showing man in traditional German garb holding staff and carrying hunting rifle. Exc. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake’s COA.
