Item Description
2.5x5x2-1/8” deep box has colorful lid art of various Chicago Tribune comic strip characters posing for the camera which has Kayo sitting on top. Manufactured by Allied Mfg. Co. of Chicago, c. mid-1930s. Characters include Orphan Annie and Sandy, Harold Teen, Skeezix, Moon Mullins, Smitty, Andy and Chester Gump, Dick Tracy and others. Lid shows moderate edge wear with a 1.75” edge split along left edge. Paper tape reinforcements at corners of lid though this appears to be vintage and done at time of production. VG+. 1.5x2.25x4.75” long tin litho viewer has printed images of Dick Tracy, Orphan Annie with Sandy, Kayo, Skeezix, Chester Gump, Krazy Kat, Smitty, Harold Teen and Perry Winkle. Camera uses 35mm size filmstrips. Contains bw Gasoline Alley film. Working. Exc. condition. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake’s COA.
