Item Description
Pair in 2 different sizes, 3” and 6.5”. c. late 1930s. Marked on underneath of larger figurine is “Wadeheath England Permission Walt Disney.” This mischievous fish-snatching, music-making baby seal featured opposite Donald Duck in the 1936 cartoon “Mickey’s Circus.” Donald’s efforts to train him ended up in one disaster after another. Unnamed at the time, this seal seems to have inspired Salty, Pluto’s recurring seal foe in later 1940s cartoons. Rare figurines, the only item we’ve seen for this relatively obscure Disney character. Smaller has repair to one flipper while larger is N. Mint.
