Item Description
2.25” with illustration of LBJ and center slogan “Rex Clawson Wages His 1964 War On Politics.” Additional rim text has dates and name of his gallery in NYC “Royal-Athena.” Clawson, born in Dallas, TX, spent the 60s in New York City where he had several shows using art to satirize the politics of the day and his shows were praised in such publications as the New York Times, Time Magazine and Art News. Button has some surface scratching over .5” dia. area in the upper right quadrant but this just shows in reflected light and with normal viewing the piece still displays cleanly and with full gloss. A very limited issue by the gallery and only about the third example we’ve seen. Rare.
