Item Description
.75” showing hand holding tool which cuts link chains. No backpaper likely as issued and with union bugs on the curl. Morris Schappes, was a radical Jewish historian and Editor Ameritus of Jewish Currents, a left-wing secular Jewish magazine. His teaching career at City College of New York was ended in 1941 because he was one of 40 faculty members refusing to cooperate with the Rapp-Coudert Committee’s investigation of alleged “subversive” activities. He was imprisoned for 13 months because of his refusal to inform. Only example we’ve seen. Essentially Mint. Rare.
