Item Description
This button was produced by Wendy Love in the 6” size and there are no other sizes. Sticker on reverse designates this as #15 of 25. It is based on a editorial cartoon by John Darkow and the button includes his last name as well as the name of his Missouri newspaper “Columbia Daily Tribune” along with the date, just after the 2008 election, “11/12-2008.” Wonderful caricature of Obama as FDR clenching cigarette holder in his teeth as he stands behind cluster of microphones including “Fox/NBC/CBS/ABC.” Two cartoon spectators at bottom right have captions reading “Is It A New Deal?” to which the other replies “I Hope So! I’m Tired Of The Raw Deal!” Obama’s large cartoon balloon reads “The Only Thing We Have To Fear Is Fear Itself! And An Economy In The Toilet, Two Endless Wars, A Ballooning Deficit, No Energy Policy, Global Climate Change, Russia In Resurgence, Gitmo, Foreclosures, Blah, Blah, Blah…” A marvelous editorial cartoon concept and a very limited edition button. Mint.
