Item Description
. This large, flat sheet of brass is 2-1/8” wide by 2.25” tall. A small silver stud on the front attaches to a vertical brass clip on the reverse designed to slip over a pocket edge or through a lapel hole. About 5% of the flag decal on the front is missing but the two-tone brass luster on the cartoon area is N. Mint. Slogan reads “Vote For The Elephant/Stop This Waste.” Below is “Copyright 1939 M.C. Kohler.” The cartoon shows money in the form of small round circles surrounding a dollar sign which has poured from a pump but this has been stopped by the elephant who has inserted his trunk into the pump nozzle. Obviously issued in anticipation of the 1940 campaign between FDR and Willkie. Only example we’ve seen.
