Item Description
Tin litho container is 4.75” tall with 2.25” dia. complete with removable lid. 1930s. Designed like a circular brick building with total of 14 windows and a door along with simulated sign that reads “Simon DeWit’s Gestampte Muisjes.” Originally contained Mickey figural candies. Each window features a totally different image of either Mickey or Minnie, some unique to this tin including one of him desperately reaching out of the window as if he just dropped something. Image at door depicts Mickey with a black eye while image of lid is Mickey peeking out of a skylight window. Scattered obvious wear including paint wear to rims, bottom margin has .25x1” spot of missing paint below one bottom window, some other scattered spots of paint wear but for the most part images are not affected. Lid has additional .25x.5” spot of paint wear with trace of oxidation but to the right of Mickey image. Appearance remains glossy and color remains deep and strong. VG. Rare, only the second or third we’ve offered in our 43 years. From the Michael J. Stern Collection.
