Item Description
1930s by Dixon who produced many different Mickey pencil boxes but this is by far the rarest. 8.25” tall with die-cut design comprised of thick stiff cardboard side panels plus die-cut thin cardboard top and bottom panels depicting same image of Mickey. Infinity concept depicting Mickey with school books over one shoulder while in his other hand is a similar figural Mickey pencil box with that Mickey also holding a Mickey box as well. This is No. 2766 and not to be confused with the more common No. 2760 which features the standard traditional Mickey image of him with one hand raised in the air. Has inner storage tray that slides out the top of the box and comes with a standard Dixon pencil as well as 6” wood ruler featuring Disney characters. Ruler is Mint. Pencil box has scattered edge wear with some lt. creases, trace of soiling, 1/8” surface paper flake from one shoe. Fine. It has been a decade since we have offered this rare box and at that time it sold for $600. From the Michael J. Stern Collection.
