Item Description
9.5x20x2” deep box. Marks Bros. c. 1934. Same circus theme illustration appears on the lid, box bottom has separate backdrop board and features Mickey as the ringmaster, Pluto as a clown, Minnie balancing on the back of Horace and Clarabelle on trapeze. Box has obvious wear/aging and lid has edge repairs and a 5” replaced piece to the right side panel but expertly done and matches nicely. Lid label remains bright. Box VG. The thick cardboard backdrop fits into slotted wood block at the top inside of the box bottom. Attached to this board are 4 cardboard pieces depicting Mickey and Minnie on trapeze with a raised hand holding a wood cup. These separate pieces are mounted on a post and a ball is placed in the cup on the top one which in turn tips and causes the ball to fall from one piece to the next. At bottom it rings a bell and then rolls into the box bottom into one of the designated score areas. Generic ball is missing. One of the Minnie pieces has creases but o/w this board shows just lt. wear along bottom edge from placement in the wood block. The box bottom insert shows small trace of wear, few small surface paper rubs. Overall contents Fine/ VF. Great design. Rare. Our last example in similar condition sold for just over $1,000.
