Item Description
3.5x4x4” tall painted cast metal depicting Mickey comfortably resting in a chair. His hands are outstretched, legs crossed and his tail drapes around the back of the chair. As produced, has his name hand-painted on his pants and the word “Germany” on underside of chair. Pants also have raised Disney copyright lettering. From a c. 1932 exceptional series of Mickey and Minnie metal figures, some of which were designed as useful objects such as ashtrays (see item #1696), playing card containers and banks. Back of chair has a pair of .5” dia. spots of missing paint. Rest of piece has typical scattered small paint flakes and nicks. Fine. All items in this series are scarce and this particular figure is among the most sought after. The only other example we offered of Mickey in chair (wearing yellow pants) sold for $4,643. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake’s COA.
