Item Description
See the previous 3 lots for the history of this event and these men. Each of these buttons is 7/8”. First is jugate with their names below. Cream bkg. has slightest even tanning to it and the American flag ribbon held under the collet has a few tiny splits along its edges. This features a real photo of the pair without dot pattern. The next item is also a real photo reading “Salute The Flag/Geo. Poinsett.” This once had a fabric flag below but now missing. The celluloid is N. Mint. Third is also a real photo but surface has about half-dozen long hairline cello cracks. These show very little and largely just in reflected light. This reads “Salute The Flag/Chas. A. Smith.” This also once had a fabric flag ribbon below. Last is colorful design with W&H backpaper. This reads “Chas. Allen Smith/Killed At Vera Cruz/Mexico.” Some lt. general surface wear in reflected light but displays essentially Mint. All 4 are rare. Comes with Hake’s COA.
