Item Description
5/8x7/8” with narrow brass frame surrounding metal insert comprised of black enamel bkg. surrounding translucent tan and bluish-green enamel accents on the log cabin, tree, barrel and foreground. The entire log cabin once likely had this tan enamel but the enameling remains only on the roof while the rest of the cabin is a metallic brass finish. A beautiful piece done in exceedingly rare style. Of the probable hundred or so Harrison brooches we’ve seen over the years, only 2 were executed in this manner and yet both of those were different than this as they were in a vertical format with covered brass backs whereas this is a horizontal format with an open back. The original pin is in position although the small vertical pin that anchors the horizontal pin has been replaced, apparently quite long ago, by a brass pin bent at the top so it stays in position. A jeweler could very easily insert a vertical pin through the hinge that would be more in keeping with the original. A beautifully executed and visually stunning brooch of great rarity.
