Item Description
23.5x33”. Felt banner. Letters/graphics sewn on. Exhibit at the Fair was billed as “NTG Congress Of Beauty/Sun Worshipers Colony.” NTG (Nils Theodore Granlund) was an American Broadway show producer, radio pioneer and Loew’s Theater publicity manager. At the Fair, his “Congress Of Beauty” exhibition met with mixed reviews and financial disaster forcing Granlund to shut down the Showgirl Review early. The exhibition featured topless female sun worshipers. A year later he had re-located to California setting up a chorus line review at Hollywood’s Florentine Gardens. During WWII it held great appeal to California-based servicemen and boosted Granlund into the ranks of the nation’s top grossing entertainment acts. .5” dia. hole and .5” dia. round tear appear at far right edge but o/w color remains bright. Thick felt remains sturdy. Vertical/horizontal folds from storage. Exc. Rare, first we have seen in our 43 years.
