Item Description
This lot consists of 3 different mailing envelopes each containing pre-cut (as issued) box backs from the extensive series of stories “As Told By Kellogg’s Adventurer.” 1935-1936. Two backs are smaller 6.25x8.5” size while all others are larger 7.5x11” size. Two envelopes contain 7 box backs while third envelope contains 5 and comes with a different letter than the other 2 sets. This letter states that the story requested was no longer available so a substitute was sent whereas the other 2 matching letters note the enclosure of the requested story with attached sheet noting other box backs and cut-outs available. Text notes that these stories are featured on boxes available at your grocer or by sending away for them as with the sets in this lot. Of the 19 box backs, 18 feature different stories, 1 is a duplicate. Titles include “Robin Hood, King Arthur, Beowulf and the Monster, The Invisible Knight, Mid-Air Transfer, The Ghost Ship, Night Wings, Parachutes", etc. including additional aviation-related stories. Each panel features text story with accompanying art. Envelopes have scattered handling wear, lt. aging to contents – more so the letters than the box backs. Box backs remain Exc. Extensive group, rare in this send-away format with paperwork.
