Item Description
2.5” dia. metal badge for the historic event held Sep. 3-5, 1982. This was the first of two US festivals with the second taking place the following year, 1983. The US festivals were music and culture events sponsored by Steve Woszniak who founded Apple Computer, Inc. While each of the 2 festivals had a few hundred thousand people in attendance, they were resounding commercial failures. Performances at the 1982 festival included The Ramones, The Police, Santana, The Cars, Tom Petty, Fleetwood Mac and others. This badge features logo synonymous with the event of “US” held by pair of hands, date appears at top. Also at right center edge is number “336” in matching green color to the logo design but possibly hand-inked badge number. Badge is still sealed in original plastic bag with insert paper promoting the event. This badge was obtained from a professional photographer who attended the event. Packaging has handling wear, paper insert has some small punctures from bar pin on back of badge but badge itself remains Mint. The only example we’ve seen and even after contacting usfestivals.com we were not able to obtain any information on the badge’s origin.
