Item Description
Both c. 1940s. The Almendares was one of the oldest and most distinguished teams in the Old Cuban League which existed from 1878 to 1961. In their early history they were known by their colors as The Blues. Later they adopted the name of Alacarnes or Scorpions. Throughout their existence they had a famous rivalry with Havana Lions. First is 9’ plate. Most gold rim accent remains. Lt. crazing/aging under the glaze. Colorful and Fine. 3.5x5x8.25” tall ceramic vase. Super design. Piece of large “A” missing, o/w Fine. Neat pair. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake’s COA.
