Item Description
Lot of four. 3.5x5.5”. Early 1900s-1910s. One with text reading “Homecoming Racine, Wis. July 5-6, 09.” Postally cancelled 1909. Two Michelin men ride in big seats with car reading “Mitchell Motor Car Co.” on the front and Michelin tire banners on the back. Another parade float is unidentified but parade route is lined with palm trees. Thumbtack hole at top center. Third is a possible European parade scene with the Michelin Man riding on top of an airplane float pulled by horses. Last is photo of large billboards on a building that include Michelin, Studebaker and Oakland automobiles. Men with rickshaws appear in the foreground. Possibly from Singapore. Trimmed at bottom. Cards show minor wear. Fine to VF. An interesting and amusing lot. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake’s COA.
