Item Description
Large and impressive 38x43.75” high quality frame contains 22x28” serigraph presented in elegant mat display. Produced from Barks’ original oil painting which was completed in Apr., 1994 after 3 months of work. The painting shows 15 Disney characters including Donald Duck, Uncle Scrooge, Huey, Dewey, Louie, Daisy Duck, Gladstone Gander, Grandma Duck, Gus Goose, Clarabelle Cow and Horace Horsecollar as well as Peter Pig and Clara Cluck, both from Donald’s 1934 debut cartoon “The Wise Little Hen.” Gyro Gearloose is seen operating a radio-controlled robot of Donald as he appeared in this cartoon. Gyro’s robotic sidekick Little Helper stands atop “DD” flag on boat reminiscent of scene in “The Wise Little Hen.” Uncle Scrooge’s money bin is seen in distant bkg. This serigraph was released in 3 different editions; regular, remarqued and deluxe. This deluxe version was the most limited of the 3 issued. Limited to just 50 numbered editions along with only 5 artist’s proofs and 10 printer’s proofs. This is the very first of 10 printer’s proofs released as noted in gold lettering at bottom left "P.P. 1/10." "Surprise Party At Memory Pond" title has been hand-written below image at center, Barks signing his name in gold paint pen at right corner. Serigraph is printed from hand-done color separations incorporating 80 colors on a sheet of 100% rag, 320 gram acid-free Coventry paper. Comes with 8.25x8.25” “Carl Barks Disney Art Editions” presentation folder which has reproduction image of serigraph and Walt Disney Co. COA. Folder also gives brief Barks biography, noting his importance to Disney animation as well as that of Donald Duck and the Duck Family of Disney characters. Exc. As framed, serigraph makes for a N. Mint display. The original issue price (of unframed serigraphs) was $2,500 for this deluxe edition.
