Item Description
5x8-1/8x2.5” hinged wooden box for F.M. Howell & Co. Cigars of Elmira, NY. Factory #529 label on underside. c. late 1800s. End panel has “Brownies” label though no illustration. Lid has bw image of Brownie-like character with smoking cigar holding up “Brownies” banner. Underside of lid has nice color illustration of Brownie-like characters climbing all over large cigar with “Brownies” banner above them. Label and tax stamp both show wear from box opening with several pieces missing. Wooden box has some aging/dust soiling. VG overall. Inside lid label has .25x1” chip missing at top and some scattered staining. VG.
