Item Description
10x13-5/8” pair with stiff cardboard covers. “Hawkshaw The Detective” published by Saalfield Publishing Co. ©1917. Cover shows obvious wear with creases, color rubs and corner tip wear. Good. Pages are lightly aged with some penciling to inside cover. Fine overall. “Adventures Of Hawkshaw” was published by Saalfield Publishing Co. ©1927. Cover shows lt. traces of wear with pinch creases along spine. Fine. Pages are lightly aged but clean and VF. Both books by Gus Mager, who developed Hawkshaw after his Sherlocko The Monk ape detective character was threatened with legal action by Arthur Conan Doyle, the creator of Sherlock Holmes over the similar name.
