Item Description
8x10.25” glossy promotional photo showing noted blues, R&B and jazz singer, Dinah Washington. Universal Attractions Management address at lower right margin along with her name at left. Despite her untimely death at the young age of 39, Washington is rated as one of the most influential vocalists of her time. She won the Grammy Award in 1959 for best rhythm and blues performance and 3 of her recordings were inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. Her 1948 song “Am I Asking Too Much” is listed in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as one of the 500 songs that shaped rock and roll. Photo has been signed in black ink “To My Girl Nickie Hope You Have The Best That Life Affords. Sincerely, Miss Dee” signing in a more familiar nickname due to her closeness to recipient. c. late 1940s publicity photo by James J. Kriegsmann. Scattered handling wear but displays Exc.
