Item Description
3.5x5.5” sepia toned photo shows legendary jazz saxophonist and clarinetist Bechet posed with clarinet later in his career. Among the first jazz soloists, Bechet is noted as being among the first important jazz saxophonists. Debuting before Louis Armstrong, he later went on to perform duets with him. Signed in blue ink “Best Wishes Sidney Bechet To Georgina.” French postal issue with black ink on reverse and 1955 date. Scattered handling wear with dust soiling. Fine/VF. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake’s COA.
